Good first stop when driving the Kanc, or heading in to do some hiking. Also lots of info, pamphlets and maps for surrounding destinations. If you are doing a specific hike for the first time ask a ranger, they’ll have some info on how hard and how long you should expect it to take.
Right off the highway exit, basically across the street. Good to get a map, or ask questions here as you won’t have much of any cell phone reception once you pass Lincoln Woods.
It's not clear whether the information centre is being operated by the NH state or the private ownership. Good to know that maps, pamphlets, and as needed info are available; however, at the Cog Base Railway Station or at Resorts/ Hotels, various maps and pamphlets are available, which are not comprehensive or are confusing. It will be appreciated if a Comprehensive Map to the scale ( showing all roads, locations and details) is developed by the Visitors Centre for whole White Mountains Areas of New Hamshire in a Map-cum- booklet form. Gift Shop and Museum are already available; hopefully, the price structure of items will be kept reasonable.Staff is helpful...
The White Mountains visitor center was wonderful. The people were very friendly and helpful. The white mountains were absolutely stunning
Nice rest stop with big gift shop and lots of information and displays... knowledgeable friendly staff and clean rest rooms ...
A great place to stop and check out all things New Hampshire. Things to do, place to go and some New Hampshire history. You can pickup that sweat shirt, fleece or jacket if it's cool out. Many other NH items as well.
This visitor center is a really nice addition to a low-key vacation in the White Mountains. They have a quaint gift shop as well as a museum, and my all-time favorite elongated smooshed pennies. The staff was very friendly and offered to answer any questions that I might have. There was an interesting topographical map of the region on display which really helps to see what an interesting place that the White Mountains truly are. Definitely recommend a family stop here if you've never been to the area, and a great place to stop before making the rest of your vacation plans.
Nice little shop and information center - Some small trinkets for sale, post cards, stickers, and lots of free information about different things you can do in the area.
Even growing up in New Hampshire, we found information about the forest that my family didn’t know. Well worth a stop if you want to see the mountains but aren’t sure of where to go. <3
Have been here several times. Good visitor center with educational interactive exhibits and a nice gift shop with clothing and souvenirs. Staff was friendly and helpful both times we've been here.
